What's in a Name?
Choosing a name for a restaurant is never simple, but we knew we wanted something that reflected a true sense of place. While exploring the history of our surroundings, we discovered that the Medieval Knights Templar once owned the very land we stand on. They operated water mills along the River Lea, grinding grain harvested from their vast estates across Hackney and Leyton. Our name, Templar, is a subtle nod to this rich past — a reminder of the centuries of stories rooted in this area, and a way to connect our guests with the history beneath their feet.
